Mojito
A highball of white rum, lime, sugar, mint, and soda. A public classic, not a branded serve.
Ingredients
- 45 ml white rum
- 20 ml fresh lime juice
- 2 tsp sugar, or 15 ml sugar syrup
- 6–8 mint leaves
- Soda water to top
Preparation
- Lightly press the mint with the sugar and lime in a highball glass.
- Add rum and ice.
- Top with soda and stir once.
- Do not shred the mint; bitterness shows up fast.
- Glass
- Highball
- Garnish
- Mint sprig
- Origin
- Commonly associated with Cuba. The precise origin story is folk history, so this page does not pick a founding bar.
- Alcohol
- Not calculated. Strength depends on the pour and the soda.
